At St Thomas More, children from Prep to Year
6 study Indonesian language and culture.
While Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian language) is the main focus, students
also have the opportunity to explore this country’s rich and diverse culture
through food tasting days, Wayang Puppet performances, learning to play
traditional Indonesian instruments and many more experiences designed give them
an insight into Indonesian culture.
Students also have the opportunity to participate in language
competitions – spoken and written organised by the Sunshine Coast Modern
Language Teachers Association. The
Indonesian classroom is a dynamic one, with the use of iPads to help students
in their understanding and proficiency of Bahasa Indonesia.
