Instrumental Music Program

The St Thomas More School Instrumental Music Program offers exciting and engaging music opportunities for students in Years 3-6. 

This program seeks to develop students' musical talents whilst also providing the opportunity for them to participate as a member of small ensembles and the school band program. Throughout the year there are numerous opportunities for members of the Instrumental Music Program to perform at school assemblies, school events and as part of the band concert program each semester.

Instruments Taught

Students participating in the program have the option to supply their instruments or hire an instrument through the school. Tuition is available in the following instruments:

Woodwind

Brass

Percussion

Piccolo

Flute

Clarinet

Alto Saxophone

Tenor Saxophone

Baritone Saxophone

Trumpet

French Horn

Trombone

Baritone Horn

Euphonium

Tuba

Tuned- Glockenspiel, Xylophone.

 

Un-tuned – Timpani, concert percussion, Kit & other miscellaneous instruments.

Tuition

The tuition includes a 1 x 30-minute weekly group lesson (2-8 students) in school time and a 1 x band rehearsal (times below) before school. Participation in lessons, band rehearsals and performances are compulsory when being part of the Instrumental Music program.

Reporting and Assessment 

All students involved in the IMP will receive a report on their progress at the end of each semester, as part of the school reporting processes.
