At St Thomas More the Australian Curriculum informs staff of the curriculum entitlements of students at each year level and in each of the learning areas.

The Australian Curriculum is used to ensure continuity in learning experiences, providing a breadth, depth and balance of learning that is appropriate to the students’ phases of development. Through planning, assessing, and evaluating the delivery of the Australian Curriculum, the process becomes one of being responsive to the needs of the students at that point in time and is consistent with The Alice springs Education Declaration.
The Alice Springs Education Declaration (18 February 2020) provides two overarching goals for our education system.
- The Australian education system promotes excellence and equality and
- All young Australians become confident and creative individuals, successful lifelong learners, and active and informed members of the community
This declaration builds on the success and impact of the 2008 Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals for Young Australians, where Ministers agreed that education should continue to promote excellence and equity and enable all Australians to become confident and creative individuals, successful learners, and active and informed community members.
